Vaithyanathaswamy Temple, Ukkal, Thiruvannamalai
Kamakshi Amman Temple is located in Ukkal Village in Cheyyar Taluk of Thiruvannamalai District of Tamilnadu. Ukkal is located at about 20 Kms from Kanchipuram. Presiding Deity is called as Vaithyanathaswamy, a tall Shiva Linga and Mother is called as Maragathambigai. This 1200 years old Shiva temple at Ukkal village is 2.5 Kms east of Koozhamandal. Pallava king Raja Simhan (Narasimha Varman II) was once suffering from severe stomach ache and he was guided to come to this place to worship Shiva. Here, he had the darshan of a Siddhar who gave him some Vilva leaves which cured his stomach ache. So, the Swamy here is called Vaidhyanatha Swamy.

Lot of Pallava / Chola inscriptions are present. Ukkal is located at about 20 Kms from Kanchipuram. Ukkal is located 97 Kms towards East from District headquarters Thiruvannamalai, 13 Kms from Anakkavoor and 87 Kms from State capital Chennai. Nearest Railway Station is located at Kanchipuram and Nearest Airport is located at Chennai.
