Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Pandaravadai Village near Vazhuvur in Kuthalam Taluk in Mayiladuthurai District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Soundarya Nayaki. This Temple is considered as one of the Mada Temples built by Kochengata Chola, an early Chola Emperor. The Temple is situated on the northern banks of Veera Cholan river. The Temple is situated very close to Vazhuvur Veerataneswarar Temple.

History

The Temple is believed to be built in 3rd Century CE. It is believed that this temple is considered as one of the Mada Temples built by Kochengata Chola, an early Chola Emperor. The temple was later reconstructed in granite by the Later Cholas and extensively renovated by Nayak Kings.

The temple is open from 6.00 AM to 12.00 Noon and from 4.00 PM to 8.00 PM.

The Temple is located at about 3 Kms from Elanthangudi, 3 Kms from Manganallur Railway Station, 8 Kms from Mayiladuthurai Bus Stand, 10 Kms from Mayiladuthurai, 10 Kms from Mayiladuthurai Junction Railway Station, 11 Kms from Peralam, 15 Kms from Kuthalam, 35 Kms from Thiruvarur and 124 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Mayiladuthurai to Thiruvarur route before Manganallur.

The Temple is situated on the Mayiladuthurai – Manganallur Bus route. Devotees need to get down at Neikuppai Vazhuvur Kaikatty Bus stop near Elanthangudi. The temple is situated at about 1 Km from this Bus stop. Auto facility is also available from this Bus stop. It can also be reached from Kumbakonam via Aduthurai, Komal and Peralam.
