Kalabairavar Temple is most famous temple in Dharmapuri District Surrounding areas including Bangalore and Salem. In India, there are only two Kalabairavar Temple are available. One of them is Dharmapuri Kalabairavar Temple. Dharmapuri Kalabairavar temple is most famous temple among Karnataka particularly Bangalore people and Andhra Pradesh People. Dharmapuri Kalabairavar temple comes under Tamilnadu Hindu Religion Department.



History
In olden days, Rishis and Munivars always used to chant the praise of (Moola Mantra) of Kalabairavar and were free of any fear. According to epigraphic details, the temple was built by the kings who ruled Krishnagiri.
A huge number of villagers belonging to more than hundred villages in the region such as Mammampalli, Pachikanapally, Alapatti, Kallupatti, Nellur, Kollapatti etc. have Kalabairavar as their Family Deity.
A large number of tourists from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka visit the temple to worship Sri Kalabairavar.
Temple's Speciality
 There are two Kala Bhairava idols in the temple. Nandhi (bull vehicle of Lord Shiva) is at the entrance.
Greatness of Temple
Sri Bhairava is the Guru-teacher of Saturn. Saturn was worshipping Lord Shiva in Kasi (Varanasi) and performed penance on the Guardian Deity of Kasi Sri Kalabairavar and attained wisdom, according to scriptures.
Of the 64 significant aspects attributed to Sri Kalabairavar, eight are considered important. Trident is his weapon. It is advised that he should be worshipped as Kalabairavar in Kasi and Swarna Bhairava in Chidambaram in Tamilnadu. Sri Bhairava showed his might by simply nibbing the head of Lord Brahmma with his nail.



The temple is situated in a pleasant environment on the banks of Patethalavu Lake between the Anjaneya Hills and Bhairava Hills. Sri Kala Bhairava, the constant guardian of the devotees graces them with all peace of mind and total freedom from the fear of enemies.
Special Features
·   If we pray this Bhairava, the bad time will become good time. In this temple, there is a place for looking bad and good time.
·        His head will be seen as flames and this temple is painted red.
·    He has four hands. In each of his hand having trident, head, pabangusha, small membrano phone drum.
·   There is no period of time to worship him. There is 24-hour prayer. Because he is the only period of time.
·        He belongs to both vegetarian and Vaishnavism.
·        He wears the snake as punul and sacred hip thread.
·    The vehicle for the Bhairava is special sacred vehicle and for other temples, there is a presence of sacred vehicle alone.
·       And in this temple, the vehicles of both nandhi and dog are present but in other temples only the vehicle of dog is present.
Opening Time
The temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
Prayer Timings
Daily prayer will be held at the time of raagu. During Sunday, at the time of raagu, 28 types of special prayers and oblation and Rudra oblation will be held. On that day, deity will be in royal dressings.


Weekly Oblation will be held during waxing moon and ashtami. In early morning 6'o clock, Arudra ritual will be held. Ashta Bhairava ritual, a ritual solace Ganapathy, Lakshmi solace ritual, all these rituals will be held during 6 pm to 9 pm.


After 9.30, oblation will be held with 64 types of liquids.
At Night 11'o clock, chatru sanmaga homam and blood ritual will take place. The prayer will take place in the 500 kg of chilly 8 bond. There is no little sense when we put the chillies in to the homam.
Prayers
Time, Kalpanta, Hostile, Skull, Samkara, Unmanta, Fighting, and Ukkira are the 8 types of Bhairavas. There are 8 incarnations for each Bhairava. The prayer will be a total of 64 Bhairavas.
Nearly 20,000 people will come to this temple on Astami and 5,000 people will come on every Sunday.
For full moon day, sorna Krishna Kubera pooja will take place to solve the financial problems.
Special Prayers
A Special prayer for Ancestral curse, pitturu curse, a curse, navakiraka dhosa, horoscopes dhosa, will take place in temple regularly for the devotees.
12 Sunday prayers, after 3 waxing moon Astami, if he is praying by offering oil lamps; it is generally believed that anything that he was praying will happen within 3 months.
